No resolutions. Not. A. Single.One
Goodbye, twenty-twenty. Seriously, you came, you saw and you 100% conquered. COVID-19 has wrecked families, businesses, and livelihoods and we’re still feeling the effects of all that you rained on in the past year.
As we look ahead to 2021, I think we’re all approaching it differently. We’re optimistic, yet cautious. Joyous yet realistic. Anxious yet patient. One thing I’ve been hearing from friends, families and some of my other favorite bloggers/ creators is the anti-resolution.
No longer are we pulling our planners and journals out, clearing out our spaces, buying overpriced workout equipment (you can thank the lack of a real stimulus check for that one, or if you’re like me, a redefinition of what’s actually worth spending money on). I think we’re taking this one slow.
The over-emphasis on the “clarity we’d receive in 2020” and the way “everything’s going to align” came with the harsh reality of who 2020 really was. It was a wake up call alright, we got clarity on our broken systems and world, our priorities and what’s truly important.
Preparing foe 2021 means setting intentions (funny enough — I did this at work with my team). Intentions are more about consistency and practice and less about result. The result comes after the work.
So…. to get to the point of this post. How am I preparing for 2021? Well for starters instead of goals (dropping x amount of pounds in x months, saving/ investing x amount of dollars in x years), I’m setting intentions.
I’m working out for 15 minutes, 3 times a week, and then building up to 30 minutes, then 45 minutes. I know that I’ve tried the fitness journey before, and failed because I deprived myself and tried to force my body to do things it simply wasn’t ready to commit to on a consistent basis. I need to set the intention of having healthier habits before the more strict goals come in.
Girls (and guys), share your intentions with me in the comments! Excited to cheer y’all on in this new year!
