It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Halloween has come and gone and now we’re almost Thanksgiving and not yet Christmas/Holiday time. I’m building my own traditions and embracing the ones my family has. In order to get in the Holiday spirit, here are my top 5 pre holiday activities to put you in the Holiday spirit.
- Reflect on the reason for the season: With all the hustle and bustle of Christmas, I fall guilty of forgetting what it is we are actually celebrating. The birth of our Savior– Jesus Christ. Re-read Matthew 1 + 2, put on some worship music that focuses on our Savior and remember why we celebrate.
- Volunteer for a cause that means something to you: Serve food at a soup kitchen, spend time with at-risk children, plant a garden. Use the slower season to do good for others. If you want to see the world improve, start with yourself and spread some goodwill.
- Bake / cook something traditional: This one requires you to pull out a cookbook or better yet– a family recipe. Sugar cookies, pot roast, homemade bread– spend some time making something yummy, warm and with love. Make sure to share it with loved ones!
- Visit a Christmas tree farm: Do it for the gram or do it with the fam. Either way, take the drive out to the countryside of your state and snag a beautiful fir. I have a fake, pre-lit tree but I always pick up a fresh wreath outside my door. It smells like literal Christmas and adds so much cheer to my space. If you’re local to Georgia, one of the best Christmas Tree Farms is Scottsdale Farms in Milton, GA is one of the best!
- Wrap Presents: Maybe it’s just my excuse for shopping but I love putting gifts together. From wrapping to adding bows and signing cards as I get older the real Christmas cheer comes from giving gifts to those I love most. If you’re looking for some gifts for the people in your life, check out my Ultimate Gift Guide Post. Most items are under $200 (and well below it) to help you shop for classic and thoughtful gifts for those you love!
However you choose to celebrate, I hope it inspires you to savor the season and make beautiful memories for years to come. If you need to soak in the current season a little more, checkout my top 5 pre fall activities as fall comes to a close as well!
